So I take my youngest to the church for her Reconciliation classes. I was amazed at the turnout. We have a small church and our city is growing so we have been looking to expand, ect. Well, if the turnout was any indication as to growth in not only our city but our Catholic community...wow! We have almost 70 kids for their reconciliation! I was amazed! We've only had large groups like that for Confirmation! I can only imagine how many kids will be there for their First Communion next spring!

Wonderful Flo! It's always nice to hear of growing numbers when it comes to the Sacraments..

Wow Flo, that is terrific ! Yes, I know as they grow into teens some lose interest, but try this-- when they get to be 12 or 13, give them copies of The Holy Mass booklet, and get them to read it, it WILL help with confirmation numbers !

I think it was when my kids received their first commumion they received a small booklet of the mass but the kids were never interested in reading it unfortunately.

...that's great! Theres a good amount of people who go to confession at our church, but I'd say far more than half of the huge parish, do not, sadly.

Not many in our church go either actually. And when I take my kids I usually go as well because I want them to see that I am human like they are, that we all need to go now and then. I want them to get used to going. I always enjoy when my oldest goes because when he comes out, more often than not he is so joyful...he can't stop smiling. LOL!
