Opening Letter to My Forum Family
To my dear forum friends, those I’ve known for a long time and those I’ve recently come to know or are getting to know as of late, it is you who make Thy Daily Bread the beautiful community it is quickly becoming. I write to you this mission statement and personal reflection as a fellow brother in Christ Jesus with the filial love of a brother in Christ Jesus and fellow internet friend in hopes of sharing a portion of my heart and a vision that I have with you.
I created this forum in September 2009. And to that extent I suppose one could say I am the one charged with setting a course for the direction of this forum. However beyond that and in terms of authority I wish to be no one above anyone else. It is my desire that everyone has a share in the direction this forum takes just as each of us has a share in the efforts this forum puts forth concerning it’s place on the internet. So let it be known that, although I created this forum and although I am behind it’s administrative controls, I wish this not to be “my” forum or “John’s forum”, but rather “our forum” - an internet family and forum community of faithful Catholic believers from all over the world coming together to rejoice in One Lord Jesus Christ.
We, individually the child of God who we are and with all the talents God gives us, as well the collective membership ‘a body of souls in union with Christ’ who make up the whole of Thy Daily Bread are each an intricate part of this forum under the guidance of the Holy Spirit and in obedience of the Holy Roman Catholic Church.
So the past few weeks I have spent some late nights working on the following Mission Statement for our forum. I can only hope that this mission statement and the reflection that follow will be well received by my forum brothers and sisters. The Mission Statement itself (highlighted in red) is only about a paragraph in length, but is followed by the vision that I have which I can only hope as brothers and sisters in Christ you will decide to share along with me. I have based much of it on our personal interactions on the forum thus far. I hope I got it right in terms of what I believe we as a faith community are looking for in one another and in building this Catholic Faith community together one brick at a time..
Having said this, all my efforts rest in hopefully helping in my part to set a healthy direction for our forum community. As I mentioned earlier, beyond this effort I am a fellow member along with you and nothing more. I will now leave this piece I have been working on as of late with you for your reading at your own leisure and look forwards to your valuable input and suggestions to follow after wards..
God bless, John
